The Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA) began recordation information concerning registered intellectual property (IP) (patent, trademark, utility models, among others) to create a database on IP to enhance measures of reducing counterfeit products imported to Kenya.

If you are an importer, you must declare to ACA any goods entailing IP – whether it is your IP or another person.

The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC), on July 14, 2022, commenced registering various persons who are either data controllers or data processors, or both.

The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), through the Central Bank of Kenya (Digital Credit Providers) Regulations, 2022, the CBK realized authority to regulate digital lenders. As a result, all digital lenders must comply with the Digital Credit Providers Regulations (DCP Reg.). It is the CBK’s directives that failure to abide by the DCP Reg. by September 17, 2022, such an entity will cease to operate.

The Capital Markets Authority (CMA), through Gazette Notice 8981, invited the public or stakeholders to issue their views concerning the Draft Capital Markets (Credit Rating Agencies) Regulations, 2022 within 30 days from the date of the publication of the Gazette Notice – it was published on July 29, 2022.
